Pursuing Nancy’s figure skating dreams was an expensive venture, so her father started to take on extra work. Nancy understood how invested her parents were and it just encouraged her to work harder, like by getting up at 4am to practice before school. All throughout her school career she continued training, even as she graduated and attended college.

Winning Competitions

After studying for a year at college, she entered the National Collegiate Championships and won first place. In 1990 she competed at the U.S. Olympic Festival and took home a bronze medal. The following year she did the same and won a gold medal, adding her to the team that would represent America at the 1992 Winter Games in Albertville, France.
