Praying Before Shooting
Denzel Washington and Dan Gilroy, the writer of Roman J. Israel, Esq., would pray every day before getting to the filming. They would also dedicate time to read from the Bible. Denzel was certain that it was sent from the heavens: “God put us together. We prayed every day, we read the daily Word every day.” He went on, “Dan and I have been prayer partners in this whole collaboration…We were on the same page from day one – we know Who we work for, and we’re just trying to do our best work.”
The Hollywood great expressed the importance of focusing time on God and not becoming too focused on social media. He especially stressed how we receive too much information from social media outlets. “I was reading about this today in my prayer and meditation – it is so difficult to trust that Jesus died for our sins because the mind never shuts off, especially in this world,” he lamented. “We know, we know, we know, but we forget, moment by moment.” As for the youth, he urges them to ask, “What is the long, if not short-term effect of too much information?” But was his childhood so different?
