‘Pretty Woman’ – Transforming Breakfast
This error is pretty easy to catch actually! There’s a scene showing Julia Robert’s character eating a a croissant for breakfast but in the next shot, she’s eating a pancake. Smooth.
‘Dallas Buyers Club’ – The Lambo
Dallas Buyers Club is a masterpiece, there’s no denying that. There is however ~one~ major movie error though. You see the film is set in 1985 but in the office of Ron Woodroof (Matthew McConaughey’s character), you can see a poster of a 2011 Lamborghini Aventador on the wall. Uh oh.
‘Reservoir Dogs’ – Changing Handcuffs
Marvin Nash is a bit like Houdini in this scene. Basically, he’s being dragged to the super secret hideout with his hands cuffed tightly behind his back. After taking a bit of a beating, the next scene shows that Nash’s hands are now cuffed in front of his body.
‘The Dark Knight’ – Newspaper Typo
Maybe at first glance, you’d look at this image of this particular headline and you’d think there was nothing wrong with it. However, you’d be very wrong. The writer of this fake newspaper misspelled the word “heist” and the editors didn’t change it.
‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ – The Cowboy Crew Member
The whole Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is a humorous, nail biting, total cholesterol rising, swashbuckler film saga. But there’s one scene in particular in the first film where Captain Jack Sparrow yells out, “On deck, you scabrous dogs!” You immediately see the characters run out of the scene, leaving a single crew member wearing a cowboy hat. We’re about 99.99999999999% certain that cowboys didn’t exist during the Pirate era.
‘Star Wars: A New Hope’ – Infamous Head Bump
There’s no way you missed this movie mistake – no way. In Star Wars IV: A New Hope, a Storm Trooper extra accidentally bangs his head on a sliding door but it was never edited out of the film! We hope someone sent that extra a gourmet fruit basket or something.
‘Gladiator’ – Motorized Chariot
“My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, Commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife.” Whenever that line gets delivered in this iconic, epic, legendary, (insert a million more kick a** descriptive words here), hearts everywhere thump a mile a minute. There’s no doubt that Gladiator and Russell Crowe are beyond brilliant but we still can’t forgive the ~one~ crucial movie mistake. There’s a fight scene that takes place in the Coliseum and a chariot overturns, underneath it shows a gas canister that had fueled the chariot. Gas canisters never existed during the Roman Empire and no one ever edited the mistake.
‘Grease’ – The Magic Lightswitch
There’s no doubt about it, Grease was well ahead of its time and is still adored by many to this day. Which is why have to point out the scene where the waitress completely misses the light switch when walking into the kitchen but the lights come on anyway. Like we said, ahead of its time.
’10 Things I Hate About You’ – The Archery Scene
The scene where Bianca shoots her gym teacher with an arrow and the teacher sends a student for help. The student sprints off to “get help” but makes the mistake of stopping short of the stops exiting frame. She assumed she was out of shot and no one caught the error. Oh my.
‘Pulp Fiction’ – Bullet Holes
You remember the whole, ‘English, do you speak it?’ scene? Yeah, of course you do. But did you happen to catch the one horrible movie mistake? No? Well, here it is, the wall is riddled with bullet holes well before the shooting war takes place.
‘North by Northwest’ — Mount Rushmore Shootout
Prop guns are loud, any actor will tell you that. In the shooting sequence at Mount Rushmore a child extra in the background covers his ears — before the gun ever goes off. The kid probably had to sit through the same prop shot multiple times, thus causing this gaffe.
‘Bad Boys’ – The Camera Man
We’re not talking about Martin Lawrence and Will Smith, we’re talking about the film starring Sean Penn. Basically the movie scene error is during a fight scene. For quite some time, you can clearly see the camera man up front and center during the close up shots. Whoops.
‘Matrix’ – The Pre-Broken Pillars
During the scene where Neo and Agent Smith battling it out in the warehouse in the first Matrix film, there’s a pretty crucial mistake. It shows a shot where a certain stone pillar gets punched with a bare fist clean through. But when Neo ducks under Smith’s blow, it reveals that the stone pillar was already busted.
‘Dirty Dancing’ – Magic Gearshift
No doubt about it watching Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing had every girl swooning. But the scenes where Swayze is driving that sexy car, show that the gear shift is in park while they’re filming a scene that clearly shows the car is moving. What a magical car.
‘Braveheart’ – Watch for Cars
Braveheart unfortunately had a ton of editing and technical mistakes but the car one has got to be our favorite. Take a look below at this epic fight scene and pay attention to the bottom left.
‘Lord of the Rings’/The Hobbit – Legolas’ Eyes
The dreamboat that is Orlando Bloom falls into this list, here’s why. During the original trilogy of Lord of the Rings, it is exceptionally clear that Legolas’ eyes were a bright, clear blue. But somehow in The Hobbit, his eyes are a dark brown. Even though it’s the same actor/character and the same director.
‘Tombstone’ – Fake Rain
Creating fake rain is apparently harder than we thought. Pay attention to how the rain pools when the camera moves further down the street. Usually, the farther away from the camera then the drier the set should be, showing that the rain was hosed in.
‘American Sniper’ – The Fake Baby
When Bradley Cooper portrayed the sniper Chris Kyle, everyone was mesmerized. Not just because of his stellar acting skills and the movie as a whole but mainly because of one particular scene. It features Cooper interacting with a very, very fake baby. The story is that the real “actor” baby was too sick so the crew improvised.
‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ – Modern Extras
It seems wrong to pick on Indiana Jones and the brilliant Raiders of the Lost Ark film but alas, we have to. After Marion’s truck explodes, Indy is seen drinking at a bar. However if you look in the background, there’s a guy wearing jeans and a white t-shirt walking around.
‘Back to the Future’ – Marty McFly’s Guitar
During this particular scene, McFly is back in the year 1955, and he’s playing this killer guitar which is a bit weird considering the ES-345 didn’t debut until 1959.
‘She’s All That’ – Tattoo
Remember when Taylor got a heart tattoo? Where did it go by the time the prom scene came up later on?
‘Clueless’ – The Reappearing Mirror
As you should remember, during Cher’s driving test, she runs into another vehicle, destroying her sideview mirror. It literally flew off. Yet, in the next scene, that same window is magically replaced.
‘Encino Man’ – Swap
Another driving scene, eh? If you recall Link (Brendan Fraser) takes off while in a driving test car. Then you see Dave (Sean Astin) runs after him and jump into the car through the back window. However, the next scene shows that the man behind Link isn’t Dave.
‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows’ – Lily Potter’s Eyes
Throughout the entire book series, Harry Potter was constantly told he had eyes just like his mother’s. They were a beautiful green; however, in the final film, the actor portraying Lily Potter had brown eyes.
‘Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls’ – Chess
Just about the funniest movie ever doesn’t escape this list. There’s a screencap clearly showing a chessboard with pieces. However when the scene cuts, you cab see the chessboard empty. Whoops is an understatement.
‘Grandma’s Boy’ – Banana
Try to remember the scene in Grandma’s Boy where a tray of food is being put into the oven. Notice the banana in the top image? Somehow that banana just disappears once the food is removed from the oven, look at bottom photo.
‘Scary Movie 3’ – Arm Changes
Welp, this mistake is clear as day! The right arm can be seen in the top image however the next scene clearly shows the left one.
‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ – Reflection
Yup, another mistake from Raiders of the Lost Ark! You can clearly see the snake’s reflection in the glass which is separating it from Indiana Jones.
‘You’ve Got Mail’ – Missing Olive
Just like the image below says, the olive disappeared. We watch as Tom Hanks’ character puts an olive in his father’s Martini but then in the next scene, there is a cut to his father and then back to Hanks’ character. Tom has put the same olive back in the martini.
‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’ – Grandpa Joe
Here’s one that’s been making us shake our heads for ages now. Grandpa Joe hadn’t been out of bed in some 20 years. Yet somehow, he still managed to go buy Charlie a chocolate bar without anyone else finding out. They explained where he got the money, but not how he got up and did the shopping.
‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ – Pointer
Looks like Rey fell to the movie mistake list, what a shame as it could have been easily avoided. If you’re pointing with one arm, stick with it, don’t switch up!
‘Frozen’ – Hair Through Shoulder
You’ll just have to re-watch Frozen for the millionth time in order to catch this error fully. When Elsa is singing ‘Let It Go’, you can see her hair clearly go ~through~ her shoulder. How does that even happen?
‘The X Files’ – Blank Papes
As a lover of The X Files, I can’t believe I missed this mistake! But as you can clearly see, Special Agent Fox Mulder is clearly reading a newspaper that’s blank.
‘The Lord of the Rings’ – Clean Axe
Yup, as you can see from the images below, we have the case of the quickly cleaning axe. Now how’d that come into play?
‘Titanic’ – Lake Wissota
Jack Dawson 4EVA, am I right or am I right? Anyways, there’s a scene in the film where the dreamy Jack Dawson mentions Lake Wissota, a man-made lake. However, this lake was built five years after the Titanic sank.
‘Ocean’s Eleven’ – Switch Up
There is a scene in Ocean’s Eleven showing Brad Pitt’s character holding a glass but in the next cut, it’s a plate. Then in the cut after, it’s a glass again. Whoa.
‘Terminator 2’ – Head Split
Oh look, the head was split long before the shot was ever taken. Try not to let your cholesterol sky rocket as such a silly mistake though.
‘Batman Returns’ – Makeup Blooper
Even Batman can’t escape from movie bloopers, well more like gauging mistakes! Whatever happened to his heavy, dark eye makeup?
‘Ace Ventura: Pet Detective’ – Box Switch
No one can deny that Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls was a hilarious flick but come on, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective was just as funny! This bubble wrap mistake may seem like a small thing but it’s the little things that make a difference, people!
‘Jurassic World’ – Nice Watch
During the scene where Hoskins first approaches the raptor cage, his watch clearly shows that it is approximately 2pm. After the rescue of the staff member who fell into the pit, the shot cuts back to Hoskins but his watch shows 1pm. Oops?
‘Fast And The Furious’ – Tire(s)
Whoops, this mistake could have easily been avoided! As you can see in one shot, the truck had two tires then in the next cut, there was just one tire.
‘American Pie’ – Cup Color
Like we said, it’s the little details that get overlooked that make the most difference. This mistake is a no brainer, it’s not like messing up your cholesterol!
‘Titanic’ – Mole Moved
Even the incredible Kate Winslet can’t escape a movie mistake, although, you’d think this is one she’d catch. Come on, your character has a mole and then in the next scenes, the location of the mole has moved?
‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ – Medallion
Well, this movie mistake is a bit of an obvious one. As you can see from the top image, the medallion was clearly showing but from the next scene, in the bottom image, you can see the medallion is in her corset instead. Solid mistake.
‘Shawshank Redemption’ – Moving Bullets
Either his character was super quick or had OCD because there’s no way the bullets could have gone from scattered to neat that quickly.
‘Home Alone 3’ – Black Bar
Nothing beats the first two Home Alone flicks, although the third one was pretty good. However when a black bar just pops up in each scene is a tad bit bizarre.
‘The Wizard of Oz’ – Hair Mystery
Yikes, a classic film like The Wizard of Oz is on our list? Whoa, not good. Then again, things happen, don’t they? In this case, Dorothy’s hair seems to have seriously changed length in the matter of a couple shots.
‘Twilight’ – Buttons
Ahh, Twilight. Welcome to the list! And for something so, so simple? What a shame but alas here we are. Edward Cullen’s button is clearly undone, in top image, then immediately in the next cut, it’s done up properly. Witchcraft?
‘Batman Returns’ – Warm Enough
Another one from Batman Returns? Yup! Do we really need to go into further detail here? In one scene, he’s all bundled up with a scarf and coat and in the next, he isn’t. That definitely counts as a mistake.
‘300: Rise of an Empire’ – Apples to Apples
The visual effects department was probably more focused on animation then they were on what color an apple was. Or maybe that’s not even the same department, come to think of it. In any case, a simple mistake that could have also been avoided.
‘Iron Man 2’ – Bloody
Come on guys, the amount of blood can’t just magically appear and disappear. Unless he wiped it off so quick we didn’t even his hand ever move. Yeah, didn’t think so.
‘Lord of the Rings’ – Scar Moved
Seems like the makeup team and Frodo himself forgot where his scar was supposed to be. Cause a scar like that doesn’t just up and move on its own. Ever.
‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ – Switch Sides
Man, another mistake from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows? Since it was so good, I guess we can let it go. Although, it’s not a tough mistake to avoid. However, it was in the middle of a crisis so it’s understandable?
‘Twilight’ – Reflection
Oh, hey Twilight. Fancy meeting you here…again. This mistake just stings. The boom mike is clearly reflected in the truck window that this mistake is just tragically sad.
‘Star Trek’ – Insignia
It’s almost considered magic when the insignia on his jacket keeps appearing and disappearing and appearing all throughout the film. How about just sticking to one wardrobe instead of multiples?
