Oh yeah, Whoopi Goldberg portrayed Guinan, an El-Aurian which is a race of “listeners” who were scattered by the Borg (a powerful, cyborg-like race). Since the show, she’s gone on to win an Emmy Award, a Grammy Award, an Oscar, and a Tony Award. She was also the second black woman in the history of the Academy Awards to win an acting Oscar.
